Dr Manders retires

Dr Paul Manders has taken early retirement and left Ardleigh Surgery on the 19 May 2010 after 25 years at the practice. He is being replaced by Dr Radrie Cole, who has moved to the area with her husband who has taken up a consultant post in Colchester Hospital. Dr Cole, a former GP partner at a practice in Chingford, started work at the practice on the 10 May. This will be the first change in partners we have had for 19 years when Dr Bettle joined the practice. As some of you may be aware Dr Manders has already moved from Ardleigh and now lives in a village in Suffolk near to Stowmarket. Dr Jane Owens will become the senior partner of the practice.

The Dedham branch surgery opened on the Thursday, 2 July 2009 within the Dedham Vale Health Centre premises.

The Health Centre is located in Roman Place, Manningtree Road, Dedham CO7 6DU (01206 322 290). This purpose built surgery had not been used as a general practice facility since it was built two years previously.

We will be providing four surgery sessions per week, Tuesday morning, Wednesday afternoon, Thursday morning and Friday morning. Each of the Ardleigh Surgery GPs will undertake a surgery session at the branch surgery other than when a GP is on annual leave.

Dedham Surgery - Big Day on 2 July 2009

Final preparations are now in hand for the opening of the Dedham Branch Surgery on Thursday 2nd July 2009. The first patients are expected to be seen in the session that will commence at approximately 9am on that day and at 1.30pm an official opening ceremony will take place when it is hoped supporters from the village and those that have been associated with the battle to restore GP services to Dedham after a gap of about four years, will be able to join with the Directors in marking the occasion.

Opening Date Announced

GP surgeries are set to commence on Thursday 2nd July 2009 with the first patients expected to be seen in the morning session. At 1330 on the same day the Directors of DVCHA are inviting local supporters and others to come along and share the occasion.

The building was completed more than two years earlier but it was not until the early part of 2009 that a breakthrough occurred when Ardleigh Practice, who were receiving a number of transfers from the East Bergholt  based Constable Country Medical Practice, realised that extra space was required. After visiting the premises in Dedham the doctors all agreed they would proceed with an application to use the premises for part-time surgeries and thus give all their patients the benefit of the alternative premises.

Essex County Standard - Thursday 5th February 2009

By Clare Jeffs

Patients in Dedham look set to get what they have been demanding for years: a GP service at their local medical centre.

A breakthrough in the long-running saga came this week as health officials met with representatives of the Dedham Vale Community Health Association and the doctors’ practice in neighbouring Ardleigh.

Together, they are proposing two or three sessions a week to be staffed, as a branch surgery, by Dr Paul Manders’ Dedham Road practice.
